Broken Hearted

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the Pride of Life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” – 1 John 2:16

At our men’s meeting this morning we talked about striving to be holy.  I found myself broken hearted about how many times we strive to work for the Lord, but we tend to often fall short.  It is our own pride that many times stands in the way.  We are too busy acknowledging that we can do it all on our own we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, and inadequate.  Brother Brandon told us that his college professor told his class that God would put many of the ministers within 10 years back on the shelf, sideline, or something to that degree.  It struck fear into my heart.  I couldn’t imagine God calling me into the ministry only to pull me out of it 10 years later because of my stubbornness and pride.  This is a good time for me, because as I search scripture seeking comfort I come to Proverbs 11:2 – “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”

I first seen the following video on Brother Brandon’s Blog, and it continues to touch my life.  Many time we are like this young girl.  We either get caught up in the world or even in my case I get caught up in ministry, and try to do things on our own which makes us vulnerable for Satan to get a foot hold.  Dont get me wrong.  I trust in the Lord, and I turn to him for allot of direction.  I lean on him allot in ministry, but when I think about if I would rest everything upon him how much greater Refuge Student Ministry could be.  Instead I let things hold me back from fully embracing God.  Let us break the chains that bind us, and run to God; letting nothing hold us back.

God is all I want, He is all I need, He is EVERYTHING!!!!
