I am excited about the fact we are going to be kicking off our new outreach program within the next 3-4 weeks. We will be doing two programs. One will be the GROW Teams from Jerry Tidwell, and the other is The Way of the Master Training.
Our church has continued to grow spiritually, and in number even though we haven’t had a very effective outreach ministry. I am just extremely excited to see what God has in store for Bethel. I believe with the new outreach teams we will be able to affectively reach out to our community.
The best part about it is that it is convenient. How many people can honestly say that they could commit to one night a week without missing? With our hectic schedules very few people have time anymore, and evangelism is a ministry that we are too quick to dismiss, however God has called us all to evangelize. Now my question is how many people could commit to one night per month? That is a lot more doable. At the same time we would still be having outreach every week. One team would meet per week. So 4 teams = 4 weeks. It covers 48 of the 52 weeks, and then subtract the holidays. Every one of us should make the commitment to just one night a month so that we might further the kingdom of God.
You say “I’m not comfortable knocking on doors”, or “I’m not physically able”; well if that is the case you don’t have to. Everyone is capable of either talking on the phone, or writing a letter. We have three different faces. We have our letter writers, phone callers, and field people. We have a place for you. We will also provide training for those who wish to become more confident in their witnessing skills so they might move into a field spot. We also need people to pray, and turn in Prospect cards. We have to have prospect cards to be effective. They are going to be the core people that we will outreach to. Prospect cards are available in your Sunday School Class, or at the information table in the entrance. Just turn them back into your teacher, pastor, or myself (Justin).
God is good, all the time.
