Retired? – God Ain’t Through With You Yet!!

A couple days ago, I had the wonderful privilege to go and minister to some folks at a local nursing center.  It was an amazing experience.  It has been years since I had been involved in this kind of ministry.  I met a man who was previously in ministry, and he shared with me about Jesus whom he called his faithful companion.  He went on to tell me that even though he was in this nursing home he was still going to preach the Bible.  He host weekly Bible studies in the dinning hall, and does what he can to pray over the sick and hurting.  I was amazed at this man’s heart for God.  It inspired and encouraged me.  It also got me to thinking about many of God’s men and women who are so called “retired” sitting on the sidelines enjoying their lives while there are people all around them suffering.  All I have to say about that is “God ain’t through with you yet!!”  He has things in store for your life that you can’t even begin to imagine if you will just be faithful and serve. Don’t waste your life get out there and share the good news of Jesus.

The Sweetest Sound on Earth

It is amazing how time flies. Seems like just yesterday my baby girl was born, and now she is a raging ball of energy. Within the last couple days we have been truly blessed by our daughter Trinity. She has begun to cuddle more, and she even made the sweetest sound on earth… she said, “momma.” The joy that simple word brings is amazing. I don’t have a whole lot of food for thought for you today, but I do want to challenge all parents out there to cherish every moment you have with your children.

Staying Float – Rising Above the Financial Flood

I have always taken pride in my ability to provide for my family.  Sure there have been ups and downs, but for the most part my family has always been financially comfortable.  Here lately however; we have struggled.  I don’t want to get into any details, but the majority of our issues result in a poor economy and high unemployment rates.  Because of this we have had to completely re-structure our budget.  For me this is torture.  I wasn’t sure how well I was going to do at this, so when I had the opportunity to Continue reading →

Mission Impossible – Living for Something Greater than Yourself!

I constantly tell myself that “I want to live for something greater than myself”; however at the same time I find myself questioning my abilities.  Because of this, at times I feel like a failure, but when I look at things from God’s perspective I realize that I am 100% inadequate for the mission that He has in store for my life, but God on the other hand is fully capable.

Monday Mind Dump!!

What’s going on people!  Man it has been crazy the last 8 weeks.  I have been on the mission field of church planting North of Kansas City for the last 8 weeks, and God has been doing some awesome things.  I just wanted to take a bit, and in an unorthodox fashion just pour out some of the things that are running through my head.  These are in absolutely no order.

1. Church Planting is hard work!!  If you are contemplating planting a church, you better check yourself.  It may seem like the cool thing to do, but I promise you that if you are not CALLED you will fail, and fail miserably. Continue reading →

Whole New Ball Game

Today is the first day that I have even been able to sit down, and do a little bit of work on the ol’ PC since my transition to church planting.  I don’t have an office set-up yet so I have been working at the local McD’s, but hopefully come the first of the week we will have a central hub/office for North Lake Church. 

This has been a great change of pace.  Over the past few months I have become so content in ministry.  Nice office, nice church, nice group of people, and I found myself too comfortable with where I was at.  It wasn’t until I started reading Steven Furtick’s book “Sun Stand Still”, that I started realizing that I was sick of settling for great when I can experience God’s best.  I have stepped out in faith, and loving every miniute of it.  The McDonalds saying “I’m loving It” doesn’t even decsribe the excitement, and adventue that I am experiencing right now. 

The worst part about being on a spiritual high is knowing that there are some spiritual lows that are going to effect me just as powerful. It is important that as I begin this adventure that I am reminded that this is a whole new ball game.  Not only am I on a different team, there are different rules, different opponents, different strategies, different rivals, but the same old adversary.  It is like going from playing baseball to football.

The most important thing is that I am spiritually equiped for this (Ephesians 6).  Time to strap up the helmet, put on the shoulder pads, and lace up the cleats.  It’s Game Time!!
