Twitter Mania!!

I have had an account with twitter for almost 6 months now, and I never used it.  I didn’t understand the whole point of it.  I thought of it as just another Myspace, Facebook, or WordPress.  I really didn’t feel that it fit into the social networking world.  I felt that it was difficult to update personal information, and not allot could be said or accomplished with only 140 characters. (letters, numbers, etc…)  It sounded like a big waste of time to me.  Do you want to know what I discovered?

I was making it way too complicated.  It is nothing like Myspace, Facebook, or WordPress.  There isn’t some long bio you can read about each person.  There isn’t exhaustive reading of pointless blogs, and there isn’t allot of junk/filth on there like there is on ______________.  I don’t have to tell you which website.  You know which one I’m talking about.  You can’t even check your profile mail without seeing some type of garbage or spam.  What I discovered about twitter is conversations.  That’s it.  If you want to know something about someone, you don’t just read some long bio, you ask them.  It’s a beautiful thing.  It is amazing how you can connect with different people.  I have always been a fan of this innovative preacher in Georgia, and I’ve wondered what his day consist of.  I don’t have to wonder anymore.  He posts what he is doing periodically throughout the day.  Something else that is cool about Twitter is that you will be surprised who you can meet on there.  I was shocked to see Mark Lee on there from Third Day, Bart Millard from Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, Leeland, Mark Hall from Casting Crowns, and even Lance Armstrong.

Advisory:  Don’t forget to spend time with real people.  Get out into the community and interact.  It’s Christmas, go and do something special for someone you don’t know, give a gift to someone in need, and hug someone you love.  If you don’t we will all end up like the humans in Wall-e.  By the way that is an awesome movie where a little robot teaches humans how to live again.  I will have to post on it later.

Slinky

slinky“SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES; NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING……..BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN YOU PUSH THEM DOWN THE STAIRS. “

Leave it to my wife to send me this quote.  She probably feels that way about me sometimes.  Many times we get so caught up in things that aren’t necessarily bad, but they just don’t glorify God, nor do they further His kingdom.   When that happens we can become useless, and it takes someone to push us down some stairs for us to wake up.

Don’t get me wrong, it is ok to enjoy life and have fun, but don’t let it control your life.

By the way a Slinky is a perfect Christmas Gift, and a great stocking stuffer.  Kids love them!

Out with the Old and In with the New

I was really getting tired of the look of my old blog, and I felt it looked very …. I don’t know …. I guess blah is a way to describe it.  It looked to blocky and disoriented.  I needed something new, and something that flowed.  I don’t know if the new look is it or not, but I like it better.  It looks professional.  Hahahaha, I know what your thinking Justin, professional.  I can at least try all right.  :)

While redesigning my blog I got to thinking that if we would spend as much time rearranging our lives so that they might be more Christlike as we do trying to look and be professional we would grow closer to God.

I don’t know where I’m going with this, but it just seems like we waste a lot of time on things that don’t furthur the Kingdom of God.  I guess it is just one of those heart check moments.  Anyways just “keep your heart fixed on Jesus and your mind centered on God’s Word,” (W.A. Criswell) and you should be alright.

Hero’s Are Made When You Make A Choice

One of my students shared this video with me, and it opened my eyes.  It reminded me that there are struggling teenagers all around us.  The only problem is that people are too busy to notice.  We get caught up in our own lives, and fail to RECOGNIZE that there are people hurting in this world wanting nothing more than a few comforting words, and to be accepted.  They only want to be loved.  Take a stand be a Hero, and touch the lives of youth.  “The Time is NOW!”
